The History of Calvary Episcopal School
Calvary Episcopal School, Inc. (CES) has been serving students in Fort Bend County since 1956. In 1973, it began operating as a private, non-profit corporation under charter of the State of Texas. The school was accredited in 1981 by the Texas Education Agency. In 1986, the school sought and received accreditation from the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools (SAES) www.swaes.org, a member of the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission (TEPSAC) www.tepsac.com. CES is also a member in good standing of the Texas Association of Non-Public Schools (TANS) www.abouttans.com, the National Association of Episcopal Schools (NAES) www.naes.org, and the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented www.txgifted.org. In the fall of 2006, Calvary Episcopal College Preparatory opened its doors with eight students, offering an advanced accelerated high school curriculum leading to the Distinguished Graduate Diploma.

Calvary depends upon tuition and fees to cover approximately 80% of the operating expenses. Operating expenses include teacher/staff salaries, office and classroom costs, building/ground maintenance costs, and instructional support programs, which include physical education, fine arts, music, theatre arts, foreign language, and the computer lab. Tuition payments also covers the cost of student day trips, annual group pictures, workbooks, textbooks, annual standardized testing costs, and vision/hearing screening.

Calvary Episcopal relies on support of the Annual Giving Campaign, the Calvary Parent-Teacher Organization (CPTO) gifts and donations to supplement curriculum and special program needs which exceed the tuition income. It is hoped that all parents, grandparents and friends will recognize the importance of giving annual support to Calvary.

At Calvary we believe that every child has a special place in God’s world. We believe that each child’s own unique talents and abilities will be realized when provided with the opportunity to build a strong academic foundation within the framework of a Christian environment.

It is our belief that no student, to the extent of the school’s resources, should be denied admission to the school because of verifiable financial need. If you plan to apply for financial aid, please mark the appropriate place on the application form or contact the school office for more information. The deadline for applying for financial assistance is the last day of April each year.

We are proud of our accomplishments at Calvary. We look forward to continued progress and growth, and want your family to be a part of it. Thank you for your interest and support.

Just a word or two about our site...
We believe the World Wide Web can be a great vehicle for informing others about Calvary Episcopal School and a valuable tool for helping to educate our children. On our site you will find a great deal of information about our school, as well as a remarkable record of our children's work and accomplishments. Because our first concern is for the safety and well-being of our children we do not publish the children's pictures with their full names nor will you find a roster of student enrollment. We value your input. If you have questions about our site or comments/suggestions about its content please contact Calvary School at msmith@ces-richmond.org.
